Where millionaires live? Top 20 cities across the globe with the most millionaires.
According to the analysts when affluent urban areas such as Greenwich, Connecticut and Long Island are included, New York's billionaire population will exceed 120. Additionally, the total wealth of New Yorkers exceeds $3 trillion, which is more than the total personal wealth of most major G20 countries. Tokyo takes second place on the list with 304,900 local millionaires, including 263 centimillionaires and 12 billionaires. The Top 5 is completed by London, San Francisco and Singapore.
In addition to New York and San Francisco (3rd place), 4 other US cities – Los Angeles (6th place), Chicago (7th place), Houston (8th place) and Dallas (18th place) – are ranked in the TOP 20 richest cities based on millionaire population. The ranking includes three more Chinese cities: Beijing (9th), Shanghai (10th) and Hong Kong (12th) followed by two Swiss cities: Zurich (15th) and Geneva (19th) as well as the Australian cities: Sydney (11th) and Melbourne (17th).
Fourteen of the top 20 richest cities are located in countries with Golden Visa or Golden Passport, which grants residency or citizenship in exchange of significant investment, according to Henley & Partners. The right to live, work, study and invest in leading international metropolises such as New York, London, Singapore, Sydney and Toronto can be secured through residency by investment, emphasizes the executive director Jrg Steffen.
